Dr. Fabian Ramos

Founder & Medical Director
Dr. Fabian A. Ramos, FIPP, DABA, DABIPP, DABPM, is a highly accomplished pain management specialist with an impressive background. He completed his pre-Anesthesia and Pain Management internship at Emory University’s Department of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in Atlanta, GA, and went on to complete his Anesthesiology Residency at the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, FL, where he was recognized as the “Best Graduate.”

Dr. Ramos holds triple board certifications from the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians, American Board of Pain Medicine, and American Board of Anesthesiology, ranking in the 99th percentile nationwide. He founded the Ramos Center for Interventional and Functional Pain Medicine in Bradenton, FL, in 2000, where he and his team provide state-of-the-art interventional treatment options for chronic pain sufferers. In recognition of his significant contributions to the field, he was included in Castle Connolly Ltd.’s prestigious Top Doctor Database in 2019.

Dr. Ramos is committed to creating a safer and healthier environment for local chronic pain residents by focusing on alternative strategies to address chronic pain and taking a conservative approach to pharmaceuticals. He has received numerous awards and recognition for his efforts, including the 2018 Champion of Prevention in Healthcare Award from Drug Free Manatee and the 2018 Community Health Advocacy Award from the Sarasota Medical Alliance Foundation & Society.

In addition to expanding his practice to Sarasota and Venice, FL, Dr. Ramos has been recognized for his willingness to share his knowledge and insight regarding controlled substance prescribing with local physicians and pharmacists. His efforts have contributed to the reduction of opioid overdoses in the community. Robert F. Benson, M.D.

Dr. Robert Benson received his Bachelors of Science from Eastern Michigan University and his Medical Degree from Wayne State University, specializing in General Surgery and Anesthesiology. In 1995-1996, he completed a Fellowship in Pain Management at Vanderbilt.

Dr. Benson is also board certified in Anesthesiology by the ABA. From 2002-2007, he worked as an Attending Anesthesiologist at Town and Country Hospital in Tampa and also at Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg.

In 2007, Dr. Benson became the Medical Director of St. Andrews Surgical Center in Venice. He has successfully published studies in the IASP Journal and Pain Digest.

Samuel A. Amen, M.D.

After completing his undergraduate studies at Kalamazoo College in Michigan, Dr. Samuel Alan Amen, MD, DABAM, FASAM, played intercollegiate football for a couple of years and completed Officers Candidate School with the US Marine Corps in Quantico VA. After serving on medical missions in the Ecuadorian jungle and Galapagos Islands, he decided to enter pre-medical studies at Arizona State University, where he found his calling.

Dr. Amen completed his medical studies at the University of Oklahoma, where he also completed a one-year internship in Internal Medicine. He began his one-year Residency in Anesthesia at the University of Southern California, but family circumstances led him back to Michigan, where he started practicing men’s health and became licensed in nine states, providing medical services at various clinics across the country. Dr. Amen then returned to the University of Oklahoma to complete his Residency in Internal Medicine.

He continued his training with Fellowship training in Pain Management and Addiction Medicine, and then joined the faculty at the University of Oklahoma Tulsa School of Community Medicine. Dr. Amen found great satisfaction in treating patients with chronic pain and opioid addiction. He helped establish a successful private practice in Pain Management and Addiction Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma, before relocating with his wife and two children to Sarasota, FL.

Dr. Amen is excited to join the Ramos Center for Interventional & Functional Pain Medicine and to bring his unique and much-needed skill set to serve patients within our community.

Erol Jahja, D.O.

Dr. Jahja is the tenth physician to join the comprehensive team at the Ramos Center and will be treating patients in our Sarasota and Bradenton offices.

A Florida native, Dr. Jahja grew up in Bradenton, FL and attended the University of South Florida for his undergraduate degree before returning to complete his Fellowship in Pain Medicine in 2023. Prior to completing his Fellowship, Dr. Jahja received his medical degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton. He then went on to do his Internship at St. Petersburg General Hospital and a Residency at Manatee Memorial Hospital. Dr. Jahja then went on to complete a second Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Before returning to USF for his Pain Medicine Fellowship.

When asked about his new role, Dr. Jahja stated, “I am excited to start my professional career at the Ramos Center, alongside this comprehensive and robust team of skilled physicians. Most importantly, I’m glad to bring my experiences and knowledge to my home community.”

Schyler Johnson, PTA

Schyler attended the State College of Florida in Bradenton for her undergraduate degree and then went on to get her Physical Therapy Assistant Certification from Keiser University in Sarasota, FL. Schyler is passionate about helping Ramos Center patients reduce or even eliminate their pain through physical therapy, and she has made a great addition to our PT Team at the Ramos Center.
